About

anna-sepia-square-smallI am a follower of the Man who walked the shores of Galilee and bid people to come and follow him. As I do my best to follow him, I reflect on what that call means in my context, perched here on the top of a hill in just outside the burby-burbs (does that make them the semi-burbs?) in Middle Tennessee, outside of my new hometown, wonderful Music City aka Nashville.

I’ve had a blog identity crisis… I’ve been working on integrating the various pieces of my life into a whole. deepsoil was started to discuss theology, ecclesiology, and the emerging church. I’ve up and gone post-emergent (whatever that means!) on a bunch of my fellow bloggers, thereby losing that niche in the blog-o-sphere, and trying to reinvent deepsoil.

I want to write a blog that is just me, ramblings and life story, because in the grand scheme of things, this is the kind of blog I like to read. deepsoil has been more and more that way with reflections on everything from cooking to life to some reflections on things running around in my head from theology to personal journey with God sort of things.

I’ve also been developing a passion for photography over the last year or so, and so this latest edition of deepsoil@soultopology has a sister photography called dailyikon, and a youth ministry discussion site called ymCafe.

And so here begins a new chapter in my journey with God, my husband whom I adore and can’t think of enough adequate adjectives to describe,  and our dogs: the psycho dog of many names (officially named Otto), and the demon chew puppy (mostly called Lacey).

This chapter will, Lord willing, see us settling into our house on a hill, and as the adventure continues, see us adding children to the mix and learning what it means to live all over again.

Welcome.
